Children’s Photographer {Fairy Tale Ball} – Richmond, VA

This was my fifth year taking photos for Theatre IV’s Fairy Tale Ball. It’s a great fundraiser! The Empire is decorated in the style of the upcoming show, the kids are all dressed up in either fancy clothes or costumes, there’s food, drink, and dancing, and everyone has a fabulous time! I basically spend the night following children around and snapping their pictures. Here are a few of my favorites from this year.

The Solomon/Sanford family was home from California for a while in April and got together with the Alley/Schaum family for Norborne’s birthday and a little family photo shoot. Here are some (a lot) of my favorites.

And then all hell broke loose!

Well, not really. But three kids will definitely liven the place up! Lexi and Emma swam like little fish. Dominic refused to wear his swim suit. We dug holes, built sand castles, collected shells and sea sponges (yuck), and went out on the kayak. Let me rephrase that: Aunt Ginnie and the girls went on the kayak while Ashton, Amy and I sat on the beach with our Corona and Mike’s Hard Lemonade.

I also took loads of photos. Here are my favorites.

I like doing actor headshots, but I have to admit that it’s way more fun to just follow kids around and snap away, which is what I did a few weeks ago when Susan Sanford was in town doing “Little Dog Laughed” at Barksdale Theatre. I met her and Mercedes Schaum (scenic designer extraordinaire) at Maymont with their kids. Here are some of the shots I got that day.

I’ve been talking about creating a blog for my photos for quite some time now, and since Erin Thomas asked if there was a place that I had some family portraits online (I have some on webshots, but it’s getting hung up on me), I decided this was the time. I’ll make it prettier later, but for now, here are some of my favorites:
