How I spent my summer vacation – Part I
For the past couple of years, Ginnie and I have spent a week in August at Muriel MacAuley’s Cottage on Gwynn’s Island. It is so wonderful. We have no internet or cellphone service. There are no projects hanging over our heads and no one to distract us from our peace and quiet. (Well, that’s not entirely true. We did take the dogs. And we did invite my sister and her kids. But more on that later.)
When I finally had the opportunity to sleep in, I was up at 6:00 anyway. We have a private beach just yards away from the back door, so I can go out in my pajamas with coffee in one hand and a camera in the other. I would hate to miss this.
Our days were basically about eating, drinking, sitting, and then resting afterward. Ginnie spent a lot of time in the kayak, but that’s way too much exercise (and sun) for me. She tortured the puppies instead. Piper at least stayed in the kayak – Alice jumped out and swam for shore!
I could usually be found in the shade with a book in my hand and a dog at my feet. Actually, this sums it up pretty well.
